Legislative changes to the Commonwealth Electoral Act 1918 in 2006 resulted in changes to the financial disclosure reporting requirements for electoral events.
This page contains the historical returns that due to the changes in the legislation are no longer required to be disclosed.
Media Returns
Media returns were lodged by broadcasters and publishers following the 2001 and 2004 federal elections.
The returns disclosed the details of each placement of election advertisement broadcast for each event.
Third Party Returns
Three types of third party returns were required to be lodged following the 2001 and 2004 federal elections.
- Third Party Returns of Donations Made, which set out election donations made to candidates, Senate groups or other third parties.

- Third Party Returns of Electoral Expenditure, which set out the amount spent on specified categories of electoral expenditure.
